I brani in cui Sonny Rollins si esibisce in questo LP, appartengono alle stesse registrazioni del sassofonista con i membri del Modern Jazz Quartet, che hanno prodotto un altro LP: The Modern Jazz Quartet Guest Artist: Sonny Rollins (Atlantic 1299). Rollins e John Lewis avevano registrato insieme un paio di sessioni come sidemen per J.J. Johnson nel 1949 e per Miles Davis nel 1951, e il sassofonista avevano fatto un LP completo con il MJQ per Prestige nel mese di ottobre 1953. Le sessioni al Music Inn costituiscono la loro ultima registrazione insieme.
