Questo LP contiene il secondo e omonimo album di Howlin Wolf per letichetta Chess pubblicato nel gennaio del 1962. A causa dell'illustrazione in copertina (realizzata da Don Bronstein) raffigurante una sedia a dondolo, l'album è anche conosciuto come The Rockin' Chair Album, tanto che sulle ristampe dell'LP (etichetta Vogue, codice 600111) questo soprannome è stato aggiunto in copertina. Nel 2003 l'album è stato collocato dalla rivista Rolling Stone al 223. posto nella classifica The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Oltre allLP originale, questa edizione Vinyl Lovers da collezione contiene anche 4 bonus track incise tra il 1954 e il 1958 che insieme a questo gioiello rimasterizzato rappresentano il meglio della discografia di questo gigante del blues.
