Burke, che è un giornalista, entra in contatto con un pilota pluridecorato della Prima Guerra Mondiale e con la sua famiglia. Frequentando il pilota (che si guadagna da vivere facendo delle gare aeree) e sua moglie, Burke si innamora della donna e al contempo scopre la vera natura del rapporto fra i coniugi. Quando il pilota muore, nel corso dell'ennesimo volo spericolato, Burke non esiterà a intervenire a tutela della sua amata.
