Un ingegnere francese sta conducendo dei lavori in una zona semiselvaggia della Svezia, tra gente primitiva, legata ad antiche superstizioni, stranamente ostile. Nella foresta, non lontano dal villaggio, vive una vecchia, che ha presso di sè una giovanissima nipote (Ina).
