Spring 1941
Il brillante medico Artur Planck, la moglie Clara e le loro due figlie cercano riparo dai Nazisti che hanno invaso la Polonia e trovano un rifugio sicuro nella fattoria di Emilia, che vive sola dopo la morte del marito al fronte.
