Piantato in asso dall'attrice protagonista nel bel mezzo della realizzazione del suo ultimo film, il produttore Viktor Taransky decide di sostituirla con un'attrice creata al computer, Simone. Ma quando la fama dell'attrice virtuale cresce a dismisura, Viktor comincia a dubitare che la sua sia stata davvero una buona idea. Una inarrestabile serie di equivoci si scatena quando Viktor, rotti gli indugi, decide di dimostrare a tutti (ma soprattutto a sua moglie) che Simone è una creatura immaginaria, fatta di pura fantasia.
