trama:: Rugantino
Nella Roma del 1830, Rugantino, giovane popolano sbruffone e millantatore, scommette con tre dei suoi amici di riuscire a conquistare la bella ed onesta Rosina, sposata con il geloso e violento Gnecco. Arrestato per aver ucciso col coltello un corteggiatore della moglie, costui ottiene, come spia del governo pontificio, di andare in esilio anzichè sotto la mannaia del boia. Della sua assenza ne approfitta Rugantino, che riesce finalmente a sgelare il cuore della bella Rosina. Informato del tradimento di costei, Gnecco rientra segretamente in Roma, per vendicarsi, ma un cospiratore liberale lo uccide durante le feste di carnevale. Del delitto viene accusato Rugantino...
