Norvegia, 1942. I nazisti impongono all'ingegner Nielsen di quadruplicare la produzione di acqua pesante del suo stabilimento di Telemark. La notizia, grazie ad un membro della Resistenza, Straudt, perviene al professor Pedersen dell'Università di Oslo. Costui, allarmato, ne informa il comando alleato a Londra. Si decide di distruggere l'impianto con l'impiego di una compagnia britannica di guastatori paracadutisti. Gli uomini non giungono pero' a toccar terra il loro aereo è abbattuto. I pochi norvegesi che li hanno preceduti, comandati da Pedersen e Straudt, decidono di attaccare ugualmente gli impianti e li distruggono...
