Ambientato nel 1812 a New Orleans, dove si fronteggiano inglesi e americani in guerra. Il generale Andrew Jackson trova aiuto nella flotta messa insieme dal pirata Jean Lafitte, ravveduto dall'amore per una dama aristocratica: Lafitte aiuta a sbaragliare gli inglesi in mare, ottenendo in cambio la libertà per sé e per i suoi uomini. Ma questi avevano abbordato anche una nave americana: Jackson comunque mantiene la promessa e non arresta il pirata, che può andarsene, solo e con la sua nave.
