Durante una sparatoria tra criminali, il professor George Kingsley viene ferito gravemente. A salvarlo ci pensa un suo amico, il dottor Ernest Sovac, che è costretto a trapiantare nel suo cervello le cellule cerebrali di Red Cannon, un gangster morto nel conflitto. In questo modo Kingsley finisce con l'assumere una doppia personalità il cui controllo è nelle mani di Sovac.
