Leon Pool, cassiere in una banca, è complice di un gruppo di malviventi che hanno organizzato una rapina. Quando gli agenti vanno per arrestarlo, fa resistenza e durante lo scontro a fuoco, Sam Wagner, uno dei poliziotti gli uccide la moglie. Pool viene arrestato e condannato, ma giura di vendicare la morte della moglie. E quando per buona condotta viene trasferito in una colonia agricola, ne approfitta per fuggire.
