Il detective Danny Fisher si trova, del tutto casualmente, a tagliare la strada al pluriricercato irlandese Miles Jackson il quale sta tentando la fuga con una valigetta piena di diamanti in compagnia della fidanzata Erica. Fisher inseguendoli dà luogo a un incidente in cui Erica muore.
