Quando gli Slowdive si sciolsero nel 1995 i fan della musica lo associarono ampiamente alla scomparsa del genere shoegaze. Il loro ultimo segno di vita è stato Pygmalion (prima che si riunissero nel 2014) ed è stato, dopo Just For A Day e Souvlaki, un album totalmente diverso e più astratto.
