ARTHUR OR THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE è il settimo album dei Kinks pubblicato il 10 ottobre 1969, che questanno festeggia i 50 anni.è uno dei concept album più efficaci nella storia del rock, ideato dal frontman Ray Davies come una sorta di opera rock per la colonna sonora di uno sceneggiato televisivo della Granada Television.Arthur venne accolto da unanimi consensi alla sua pubblicazione ricevendo recensioni molto favorevoli.Il disco, anche se non fu un vero e proprio successo commerciale, diede l'opportunità ai Kinks di riaffacciarsi nella classifica statunitense e in particolare nella Billboard Hot 100.
