Nel 2017 il grande organista riuniva al Jazz Standard di New York un gruppo di amici (oltre ai fidati Jonathan Kreisberg alla chitarra e Johnathan Blake alla batteria c'erano John Ellis al sax tenore, Jason Marshall al sax baritono, Sean Jones alla tromba e Robin Eubanks al trombone: ospite la voce di Alicia Olatuja). Ma non è finita: per esaudire un desiderio espresso dal noto rocker, Dr. Lonnie ha convocato in studio Iggy Pop per registrare "Why Can't We Live Together" e il celebre Sunshine Superman di Donovan (singolo che sarà inviato alle radio) per un incontro insolito e sorprendente.
