Jazz for Relaxation è la registrazione di una data in quintetto, i soli musicisti elencati sono il pianista e leader Marty Paich, il bassista Joe Mondragon e il vibrafonista Larry Bunker; il chitarrista Howard Roberts e il batterista Frank Capp non sono accreditati ma si si sentono, eccome. Le scarse note di copertina sostengono che questa sia musica per rilassarsi e che tutti i brani siano up-tempo; in realtà il primo brano, "Dools Blues" è abbastanza lento! Ma malgrado questa imprecisione, il disco è in realtà molto divertente, e vede Paich in splendida forma.
