Distanziandosi dal noise e dalle sperimentazioni no-wave dei suoi primi dischi solisti e con i Sonic Youth, Demolished Thoughts sorprendera non poco. Prodotto da Beck, questo e il quarto disco di Thurston Moore in veste solista. Linfluenza di Beck si sente nel tocco leggero della produzione e negli arrangiamenti, che ricordano il bellissimo Sea Change di Beck stesso. Un disco delicatamente scarno, suonato con chitarra, arpa, violino e percussioni ad accompagnare la voce.
