Questo album ripropone il grande classico di Wes Montgomery So Much Guitar! (Riverside RLP-9382). In questo album Wes è accompagnato da un quintetto eccezionale con Hank Jones al piano, Ron Carter al basso, Lex Humphries alla batteria e Ray Barretto alle congas. Wes Montgomery (1925-1968) è stato uno dei più venerati chitarristi della storia del jazz. So Much Guitar! rappresenta il suo terzo album da leader, dopo The Wes Montgomery Trio (1959) e The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery (1960). So Much Guitar! è stata anche la prima registrazione di Wes con Ron Carter, con cui avrebbe collaborato su altri tre album: Tequila (1966, con Ray Barretto), A Day in the Life of Wes Montgomery (1967) e Down Here on the Ground (1968).
