Un album che anni fa in un sondaggio indetto fra i musicisti ? fra questi il ?collega? Dave Liebman ? e risultato essere il piu votato come migliore album di John Coltrane: ed e possibile spiegare il perche. La travolgente title track, l?ammaliante e meditativa Wise One, lo scattante Bessie?s Blues, i due brani conclusivi che sono una vetrina perfetta per gli altri tre membri del Classic Quartet (McCoy Tyner e Jimmy Garrison in Lonnie?s Lament, mentre ad Elvin Jones e riservato il tellurico, panico The Drum Thing, forse la piu incredibile performance di batteria nella storia della discografia): tutto concorre ad indicare A LOVE SUPREME come capolavoro di Coltrane, e CRESCENT (di pochi mesi precedente) il capolavoro del quartetto.
