Nel 1985 in Jugoslavia, una piaga misteriosa infetta e uccide un gruppo di archeologi. Anni dopo, presente. Un treno militare arriva con un carico chimico in una stazione ferroviaria. Si pensa sia in corso un'esercitazione militare: le comunicazioni sono tagliate. Due teppistiaffrontano la polizia, e durante uno scontro a fuoco un proiettile colpisce il carico, che diffonde il veleno in tutta la città.
