La venticinquenne Esther ha sempre vissuto in una comunità ebraica ortodossa del sud della Francia, molto chiusa, e sta cercando di liberarsi dalle catene religiose. Elio, invece, ha lasciato la fattoria di suo padre nel sud Italia per frequentare la scuola d'arte a Roma, ma poi è tornato a casa alla morte del padre e da allora ha continuato le tradizioni agricole della sua famiglia. La passione generata dal loro incontro spingerà entrambi a liberarsi dai legami familiari.
