Edizione in doppio CDDopo lo straordinario successo di "Blues", album inedito pubblicato lo scorso anno con registrazioni rare e mai pubblicate di Rory Gallagher, dagli archivi del chitarrista irlandese arriva un altro album inedito, questa volta un Doppio CD (e Triplo LP) dal vivo, registrato nel 1977 durante il tour britannico in supporto dellalbum "Calling Card". 20 brani in totale, registrati in quattro differenti show (Londra, Brighton, Sheffield e Newcastle) con fantastiche versioni dal vivo di tracce contenute prevalentemente in "Calling Card" e "Against The Grain" (1975) oltre ad altri live favourites."Check Shirt Wizard" è stato registrato usando i due mobile studios dei Rolling Stones e dei Jethro Tull, mixato dai nastri multi track originali e masterizzato ad Abbey Road. Gli album più popolari di Rory Gallagher sono sempre stati quelli dal vivo, dimensione dove il chitarrista irlandese si superava ed era libero di esprimersi al meglio ("Live! In Europe", "Irish Tour '74" e "Stage Struck"); Rory era un artista che sul palco si trasformava, una vera forza della natura; inoltre il periodo preso in esame da questo album è stato poco documentato con registrazioni live, tutto questo rende "Check Shirt Wizard" ancor più interessante. Il disegno della copertina è opera di un giovane graffitista irlandese, Vincent Zara, che ha disegnato e portato i suoi ritratti di Rory Gallagher in tutta lIrlanda.
