Le leggende inglesi del death metal CARCASS rompono un silenzio durato sette anni, pubblicando l'EP Despicable, contenente tre nuovi brani e la canzone già precedentemente svelata Under The Scalpel Blade. L'album offre ai fan un assaggio della brutalità insita nel settimo album della band in arrivo nel 2021. Veri creatori del metal, i CARCASS hanno pubblicato diversi album classici nel corso degli anni e hanno cambiato la traiettoria del metal estremo con ogni uscita. Che si trattasse di inventare il gore-grind (Reek of Putrefaction e Symphonies of Sickness o di creare il modello per il death metal melodico (Heartwork), i CARCASS hanno sempre fatto album con i quali sono state fissate e infrante delle regole. Dopo una pausa di dieci anni (1996-2006), la band è tornata, facendo risorgere i propri riff carichi di death e alla fine ha pubblicato il suo sesto album, Surgical Steel (2013) e ha promosso l'album nel corso degli anni con tour continui, incluse numerose partecipazioni ai festival.
