Quando Neil Young pubblico HARVEST MOON il 2 novembre 1992, erano gia passati 25 anni dal suo debutto omonimo con Reprise Records nel 1968 e l?impatto che l?artista aveva avuto sulla musica moderna l?aveva posizionato nel gruppo dei cantautori piu raffinati e stimati. Harvest Moon e in arrivo il 22 settembre in formato 2LP inciso su tre lati, stampato su vinile trasparente. Neil Young catturo l?immaginario pubblico ancora una volta con uno stile di musica che aveva praticamente inventato. Con il contributo del produttore/chitarrista di pedal steel Ben Keith, il tastierista Spooner Oldham, il bassista Tim Drummond e il batterista Kenny Buttrey, fu capace di immortalare un suono senza tempo, che emerse come proprio stile in un momento in cui cosi tanta musica si stava muovendo in una direzione piu rumorosa e aggressiva.
