La registrazione è avvenuta in aprile presso lo storico Sony Pictures Scoring Stage dove sono state incise molte colonne sonore di film del passato tra cui "Il mago di Oz", "Via col vento", "Singin' in the Rain", "Lawrence d'Arabia", "E.T." e tanti altri.John Williams (5 Oscar, 4 Golden Globe, 5 Emmy e 24 Grammy) ha rivisitato i temi di molte delle sue partiture e li ha completamente trasformati. La musica spazia da Guerre Stellari come il Tema di Yoda da "Limpero colpisce ancora", Luke e Leia da "Il ritorno dello Jedi" e la title track Across the Stars da "LAttacco dei cloni", a pezzi più recenti come Il duello da Le avventure di Tintin e il Tema di Sayuri da "Memorie di una Geisha". Oltre alle struggenti melodie per violino della colonna sonora da La lista di Schindler, l'album presenta nuove versioni di temi di Cenerentola Liberty, Dracula (scritti negli anni '70 e raramente eseguiti da allora) e Donnybrook Fair da Sabrina.Anne-Sophie Mutter (4 Grammy) eseguirà gran parte del repertorio contenuto in questo album in una serie di concerti previsti nel corso dellanno. Lalbum è disponibile in 3 formati: il CD standard è in uscita il 30 agosto mentre il 27 settembre sarà disponibile il doppio vinile e la versione deluxe CD + DVD (il materiale video comprende lintervista alla Mutter e Williams oltre a 5 tracce inedite compresa la prima registrazione mondiale del nuovo brano "Markings" dedicato alla Mutter).
