Queste incisioni del 1958 al Pershing Lounge di Chicago segnarono l'inizio del successo del grande pianista Ahmad Jamal che è accompagnato in questa occasione da Israel Crosby al contrabbasso e Vernell Fournier alla batteria. Otto di queste registrazioni realizzate il 16 e 17 Gennaio del 1958, confluirono nellalbum But Not for Me. Due anni dopo, il successo dell'album convinse i produttori a pubblicare altri undici brani che sono stati scelti ancora una volta sotto la supervisione di Jamal. Si ritiene che il materiale non utilizzato sia stato messo da parte e successivamente sia andato perduto.
