Mentre le registrazioni del 1953 di Bud Shank e Laurindo Almeida sarebbero state precursori della fuzione di bossa nova e jazz, lalbum del 1962 di Stan Getz qui riproposto, Jazz Samba, avrebbe dato vita alla bossa nova mania che si sarebbe diffusa prima negli Stati Uniti e poi in tutto il mondo. Nellalbum Getz è affiancato da Charlie Byrd alla chitarra, Gene Byrd e Keter Betts al contrabbasso, Buddy Deppenschmidt e Bill Reichenbach alla batteria. Come bonus è stata aggiunta una versione orchestrale del brano One Note Samba tratta dallalbum successivo di Getz (Big Band Bossa Nova).
