Grande e sfortunato, il pianista (e compositore) Sonny Clark. Amato dai colleghi, ammiratissimo anche da Bill Evans (che gli dedico un celebre brano in memoria), se ne ando troppo giovane per entrare come avrebbe meritato nellolimpo dei piu grandi. Ma questo album del 1957, al pari di altre e successive incisioni Blue Note, gli rende ampiamente giustizia: anche nel ruolo di bandleader, alla testa di un gruppo completato da Art Farmer alla tromba, Curtis Fuller al trombone, Hank Mobley al sax tenore, Wilbur Ware al contrabbasso e Louis Hayes alla batteria. Puo bastare?
