Un avvocato sospetta che l'uomo che ha ucciso in un raptus di follia una sua ricca cliente non sia pazzo, ma simuli per nascondere una grossa somma di denaro. Ha ragione l'avvocato, che scopre l'inganno con la collaborazione di un attore, che si fa ricoverare nello stesso ospedale dov'è rinchiuso l'assassino. Ma la direttrice del manicomio riesce a sapere dove è nascosto il denaro. Da quel momento si scatena una sfrenata caccia ai soldi.
