La moglie di un professore si invaghisce perdutamente dell'assistente del marito e vorrebbe fare di tutto perché questi non si trasferisse in un'altra città. Il progetto del giovane, però, è orrendamente abortito: questi viene trovato morto e la polizia inizia le indagini, brancolando nel buio. Ovviamente, sia il professore, che l'amante e la fidanzata del ragazzo sono sospettati, ma l'assassino stesso finirà per tradirsi.
