Angela è una giovane urbanista convinta, con più di una ragione, di essere nata quando gli ideali maturati nel '68 erano ormai entrati nella stagione del riflusso. In lei però si sono radicati e vorrebbe lavorare per quel 'mondo migliore' a cui aspiravano i suoi genitori che invece hanno finito con il separarsi. Sua madre, Diane, l'ha lasciata quando era ancora piccola per ritirarsi a vivere in campagna e questo abbandono l'ha marcata profondamente.
