Dopo la scuola di "Fame" è ora la volta del campeggio Ovation. Qui gli aspiranti ballerini, cantanti e attori si riuniscono per due mesi e imparano ad allestire degli spettacoli, uno nuovo ogni due settimane. Si stringono nuove amicizie, il talento viene messo alla prova, ed i cuori vengono spezzati. Il tutto sotto la supervisione di Bert Hanley, un tempo regista a Broadway, ora cinico alcolista dopo che un grosso flop, dieci anni prima, gli ha stroncato la carriera.
