Il mandolinista/cantante Chris Thile e il pianista Brad Mehldau, accomunati dallessere entrambi artisti Nonesuch, si stimano da lungo tempo e hanno perfino suonato insieme per una serie di date dal vivo nel 2013. è stato per loro naturale quindi, alla fine del 2015 dopo un paio di date live alla Bowery Ballroom di New York, entrare in studio per registrare il loro primo album insieme Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, un mix di cover e brani originali che Nonesuch pubblica il prossimo 27 Gennaio 2017, in 2CD e 2LP.
