Nonostante fossero un power trio, la musica della band eramolto varia, con inserti PROGRESSIVE ROCK atmosferici che li rendevano una via di mezzo tra Budgie, Hawkwind ed Uriah Heep. Guidati dal bassista/vocalist Gordon Rowley e dal chitarrista John Reid, Strife avevano un sound progressivo incisivo, imbevuto di riff pesanti e voci impressionantemente stratificate, con alternanza tra brani corti e diretti ed altri piu lunghi e complessi.
