Attesissimo dai fan e dalla critica, il primo album in trio con contrabbasso e batteria nella pur ricchissima discografia del grande guru della chitarra BILL FRISELL, qui in compagnia del contrabbassista THOMAS MORGAN e del batterista RUDY ROYSTON. Valentine si basa su 13 brani di natura molto varia, spaziando da composizioni di Frisell (nuove o storiche), a standard jazz, canzoni tradizionali e cover, tra i quali linno ai diritti civili con cui il nostro è solito concludere i suoi concerti: We Shall Overcome (Ho suonato questa canzone per anni, e lo farò fino a che non ve ne sarà più bisogno, dice Frisell)
