Un\'orchestra di rara qualità": così High Fidelity descrive la Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, fondata nel 1966 da Anshel Brusilow, all\'epoca concertatore della Philadelphia Orchestra. Brusilow, che aveva studiato direzione d\'orchestra e suonato sotto la guida di Pierre Monteux, George Szell e Eugene Ormandy, fece un\'audizione a più di 1.000 musicisti per i 36 posti a tempo pieno e diresse l\'ensemble dal 1966 fino al 1968, quando fu sciolto per mancanza di un adeguato sostegno filantropico per una seconda orchestra in città. Ma nel corso di due stagioni e mezzo aveva già eseguito più di 240 concerti e realizzato sei album per la RCA Victor. Ora, per la prima volta dopo 50 anni, queste registrazioni sono nuovamente disponibili.
