Disponibile dal 13 marzo 2020 via BMG, Citizens of Boomtown è il settimo album in studio dei Boomtown Rats, a distanza di ben trentacinque anni dallultimo album di inediti In the Long Grass. Dopo lo scioglimento nel 1986, che ha portato il leader Bob Geldof alla carriera solista, i Boomtown Rats hanno deciso di riunirsi nel 2017 e Citizens of Boomtown è la conseguenza diretta di tale decisione.Accompagnato da un nuovo tour inglese e da un libro di memorie scritto da Geldof (Tales of Boomtown Glory, pubblicato da Faber music), lalbum anticiperà anche luscita di un film documentario diretto da Billy McGrath, amico storico della band di Dublino, che racconterà la parabola dei Rats: dagli inizi a Dun Laoghaire fino ai giorni nostri, passando per le battaglie punk, i successi, le vicende drammatiche e il Live Aid del 1985 (la loro ultima apparizione ufficiale negli anni Ottanta).
