Se il precedente album (acclamatissimo, anche qui in Italia, tanto da vincere il prestigioso TOP JAZZ indetto dalla storica testata Musica Jazz) del trombettista e compositore Ambrose Akinmusire ORIGAMI HARVEST era uno studio sui contrasti (hip hop, soul e jazz, più quartetto darchi e declamazione rap), la nuova incisone è uno studio ad ampio spettro sul blues, calato nel contesto della musica contemporanea. Concepito come un omaggio ad un pioniere della fusione tra le varie anime della black music contemporanea, il collega e maestro Roy Hargrove scomparso prematuramente due anni fa, ON THE TENDER SPOT OF EVEY CALLOUSED MOMENT vede Akinmusire alla tromba (ed occasionalmente al piano elettrico) insieme con i fidi Sam Harris al piano, Harish Raghavan al contrabbasso, Justin Brown alla batteria ed allospite Geneviève Artadi, la cui voce è fondamentale nel veicolare il messaggio.
