Papillon
Papillon, condannato per un omicidio non commesso, e Louis Degas, falsario arcinoto, vengono deportati nel famigerato penitenziario della Guyana Francese insieme ad altri forzati. Già prima di giungere al penitenziario di St. Laurent, Papillon avvicina Degas, piuttosto fornito di denaro, per proporgli la propria protezione che l'altro accetta non appena si avvede dei rischi che corre. L'amicizia tra i due in seguito si stringe e sfocia in una prima fuga di Papillon che finisce in isolamento per due anni. Sopravvissuto ai tormenti, l'ergastolano ritrova Degas abbastanza sistemato e ne approfitta per organizzare una seconda fuga...
