Sandro e Luciano fanno i camerieri in un ristorante ma coltivano sogni più grandi: Sandro, figlio di un edicolante pugliese che si improvvisa fruttivendolo abusivo, vorrebbe diventare uno scrittore, mentre Luciano, figlio di un giornalista, vorrebbe vedere i suoi orizzonti allargarsi, anche se non sa bene in quale direzione. È Luciano a trovare l'occasione giusta per entrambi: la possibilità di aprire il mitico chiringuito sulla spiaggia a Cuba, dove il mare è trasparente e la connessione Internet è centellinata dallo Stato. A Cuba i due amici troveranno ad aspettarli Nora, un'espatriata italiana stramba ma a suo modo autentica e profonda.
