La morte del nonno riporta Alma tra i boschi canadesi in cui ha trascorso l'infanzia. Qui incontra la femmina di lupo artico a cui il nonno era solito offrire ospitalità. A seguito di un temporale, Alma trova un cucciolo di leone e quando la lupa porta in casa di Alma il suo cucciolo, il piccolo di lupo e quello di leone diventano inseparabili.
